MicroSOS exchange to the Agricultural University of Athens

In July 2024, MicroSOS had a strong presence at the XX International Plant Protection Congress held in Athens, Greece. The conference served as an important platform for researchers worldwide to exchange knowledge and discuss advancements in plant protection. Dr. Víctor J. Carrión (UMA) delivered an impactful keynote presentation, highlighting the latest research on microbiome-driven plant defense mechanisms. His talk set the tone for a series of insightful discussions that followed throughout the event.

In addition to the keynote, invited talks were given by MicroSOS members, including Dr. Silvia Proietti, Dr. Ioannis Stringlis, Dr. Mark Zwart andA Christian Espinoza who shared their expertise on topics such as microbial symbioses, plant-microbe signaling, and viral genome evolution in agricultural systems. These talks sparked dynamic discussions among attendees, fostering future collaboration opportunities with researchers and companies.

Moreover, several members of the MicroSOS team contributed with poster presentations, showcasing their ongoing research in areas like microbial ecology, plant-pathogen interactions, and biocontrol strategies. The poster sessions provided an interactive platform for in-depth discussions and feedback, enhancing the visibility of the work of the members of the MicroSOS’s team. Additionally, MicroSOS member Belen Delgado was awarded the prize for Best Poster Presentation.
