MicroSOS at AKINAO and NIOO
In the framework of MicroSOS, Michael Bianchi, Matteo Fiaschetti and Fulco Frascati from the Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Lab, University of Tuscia, visited AKINAO, in July, and NIIO-KNAW, in September. Both secondments were dedicated to studying the effects of abiotic stresses, such as drought and salinity, on tomato plants. Besides the experimental activities, they were actively involved in knowledge-transfer and training sessions. At AKINAO, they had the opportunity to work with advanced analytical platforms for plant metabolite profiling and to exchange expertise with the host team on methodologies that will support MicroSOS research goals. At NIOO-KNAW, they collaborated closely with local scientists to test protocols for monitoring plant responses to stress and to deepen their understanding of ecological and physiological approaches used in tomato research. They also had the chance to present the ongoing work carried out at the University of Tuscia, fostering interactions with students and researchers from different laboratories. Overall, it has been a valuable and successful exchange experience!
